- Visa Regulations for Bandung, Indonesia
The Government of the Republic of Indonesia has issued Presidential Decree No. 104/2015 which exempts tourists from certain countries from entering Indonesia without using visas, through several entrances (mentioned below) and during such tourist visits for a maximum of 30 days.
This provision was updated with Presidential Decree No. 21/2016 exempting citizens of 176 countries (including ASEAN) from visiting for 30 days without the use of visas and now covers the purposes: tourism, family, social, cultural arts, government duties, seminars, meetings with the headquarters/branch located in the Indo-Nation, or transit to another country.
Visa on Arrival (VOA) is given by Indonesian immigration officials at immigration checkpoints. Bandung, which is located in the highlands of West Java, Indonesia, has a tropical climate that is quite cool all year round. The average annual temperature in Bandung ranges from 18 to 24 degrees Celsius (64 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit).
Bandung has two main seasons: the rainy season and the dry season. The rainy season usually occurs between November and March, while the dry season lasts from April to October. In the city of Bandung itself, there are several modes of public transportation that serve routes both within the city and across cities around the Greater Bandung area. These modes of transportation are served by city transportation (angkot), city buses (DAMRI), Trans Metro Bandung (TMB), and diesel rail trains (KRD). Bandung city has two main train stations, namely Bandung Station and Kiaracondong Station.
Now there is an additional option to get to Bandung from the capital of Indonesia, namely Jakarta, using Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC) or whoosh. This train is the first fast train in Indonesia and the first in Southeast Asia, with speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour. The train that connects Jakarta and Bandung has a 142.3-kilometer track with four stopping stations, namely Halim, Karawang, Padalarang, and Tegalluar.
Public transportation, such as online taxis, can also be easily found in Bandung.
- Currency and Bank Services
To make transactions, Bandung people use Rupiah (Rp) as the official currency. The valid banknotes here start at IDR 1,000, IDR 2,000, IDR 5,000, IDR 10,000, IDR 50,000, and a maximum of IDR 100,000 as the largest value. Meanwhile, the value of the coins is IDR 100, IDR 200, IDR 500, and IDR 1,000.
In Bandung, ATM machines operate 24 hours a day. You can generally find bank services Monday–Friday, 08.00–15.00. There are many currency exchange offices, banks, and ATM machines throughout the city.
- Language
The people of Bandung use Indonesian or Sundanese to communicate with each other. The most commonly used foreign language here is English.
- Electrical Sockets, Plugs, and Adapters
In Indonesia, including in Bandung, the electrical socket systems commonly used are type C and type F. Tourists from countries that use type C or F socket systems may not need an adapter because Bandung already uses this system.
For tourists from countries that use different socket systems, such as type A or type B, it is best to bring an electrical adapter. Indonesia uses an electrical voltage of 220V with a frequency of 50Hz.

To keep your internet connection smooth, you should choose a local prepaid SIM card. You can get a SIM card at kiosks or cellular operator outlets spread across Bandung. Activate the data package according to your needs. Usually, cellular operators offer daily, weekly, or monthly data packages with different quota amounts. Wi-Fi connections are usually available in hotels, restaurants, or large shopping centers.

Cellular telephone network coverage is available throughout Indonesia and is relatively good throughout Bandung.
